Delightful rice twists from the traditional Pinoy pandesal and brews to warm the cold Yuletide mornings are introduced in the 14th Padday Na Lima Trade Fair on December 10.

PandeRISE (from pandesal), a popular Filipino breakfast bread that is sweet, light, and fluffy with a tiny bit of saltiness, infused with the nutrients and energy-giving content of the Calatrava rice variety, substituting 20% of the wheat flour requirement for baking, was developed by the Department of Agriculture–Cagayan Valley Research Center (DA-CVRC) in San Felipe, City of Ilagan, Isabela.

This is great when partnered with the Red Rice Brew, also made from the same variety, and likewise developed by DA-CVRC.

“Last week, we launched our newest product, the PandeRISE … We appreciate the effort of the Department of Trade and Industry Region 02 for initiating the promotion of our PandeRISE. Indeed, our output in product development will serve as an input for DTI to support local farmers and entrepreneurs,” said Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulatory Rose Mary G. Aquino.

Aquino believes that the synergy of the activities has helped reach out to a larger scale of the market.

“We hope that these products, PandeRISE and Red Rice Brew, shall complement your cold mornings this season,” Aquino added.

Meanwhile, DTI Region 02 opened a Holiday Season Fair for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises to showcase their products and farmers’ produce at the Robinsons Place Tuguegarao City.

“Right now, we are open to interested individuals or entities to embrace the technologies for possible adoption and commercialization of said rice products,” she added.
