President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. today, November 10, 2024, visited Buguey, Cagayan and extended presidential assistance in support to typhoon affected residents.
ย
Overall, the President distributed P80 Million to various municipalities of Cagayan severely hit by Typhoon Marce.
ย
The towns of Buguey, Aparri, Sanchez Mira, Sta. Teresita, Baggao, Gattaran, Gonzaga and Sta. Ana received P10 Million each.
ย
This assistance is on top of the relief and support from government agencies and aid and resources from National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
ย
โNandito ako ngayon upang personal tingnan ang inyong sitwasyon. Bagamat binibigyan tayo ng report ng ating mga government agencies, gusto ko pa ring puntahan kayo para makita kung ano pa ang mga kailangan para sa rehabilitasyon,โ the President said.
ย
โKasama ko rin ngayon ang mga Cabinet Secretaries upang magkaroon ng mas malawak at mabilis na pagbangon ng ating mga kababayan.โ
ย
The President assured that agricultural support will be given as soon as field validation of damages is undertaken.
ย
โHindi lang tayo mamimigay ng relief goods, ang DA ay magbibigay din ng suporta pagkatapos ng assessment para matulungan ang mga magsasaka at mangingisda.โ
ย
In his opening message, Buguey Mayor Licerio M. Antiporda III thanked the President for the visit.
ย
โMr. President, we welcome you in Buguey, the Crab Capital of Northern Philippines as declared by the Department of Agriculture by virtue of Administrative Order No. 04, Series of 2024,โ Antiporda said.
ย
โSa ngayon ay hindi na kami matatakot sa mga bagyo dahil mayroong Presidente na nagmamahal sa amin hindi lang dito sa Buguey kundi sa mga karatig bayan at buong lalawigan ng Cagayan.โ
ย
Likewise, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 02 headed by Regional Executive Director Rose Mary G. Aquino awarded agricultural assistance worth P36.3 Million.
ย
The support includes 4,300 bags hybrid rice seeds, 100 hybrid corn seeds, assorted vegetable seeds, 500 native chicken and 100 muscovy duck.
ย
The rice and corn seeds will be distributed to farmers for dry cropping season while the vegetable seeds will be immediately planted by affected farmers to ensure quick recovery.
ย
Meanwhile, the 500 heads of native chicken and 100 muscovy ducks were awarded to Paddaya Este, San Isidro and Cabaritan Irrigators Association (PESICAB IA).
ย
Earlier, the DA RFO 02 and DA Employees Association had distributed 250 relief goods to barangays heavily affected by typhoon Marce in Buguey.
