Basco, Batanes — Assisted by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 2 and the Provincial Government of Batanes, its Participatory Guarantee System Team (PGS) achieved a significant milestone after being formally recognized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as a registered Civil Society Organization (CSO), marking a pivotal step in its journey toward Participatory Guarantee System Organic Certifying Body (PGS OCB) Accreditation.

This recognition affirms PGS Batanes’ compliance with the requirements set forth by DOLE for legitimacy, transparency, and participatory system. The CSO registration grants the organization eligibility to partner with national and local government agencies for development projects, capacity-building programs, and policy collaboration.

The accreditation process is aligned with the provincial government’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and sustainable governance, further strengthening its institutional foundations under sustainable agriculture.

“This is a strategic step in formalizing the PGS engagements with agencies and communities. It builds our credibility as a partner in governance and development,” said Mr. George Caday, Regional Organic Focal Person.

With this registration secured, PGS Batanes now progresses to the next phase, the OCB Accreditation and Certification, reinforcing its dedication to a culture of accountability and service excellence.

The Provincial Government of Batanes remains steadfast in its vision to uplift Ivatan communities through good governance, civic participation, and institutional innovation.
