It’s a win for the Buenavista Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BMPC) based in Santiago City, as they sold 96,458 kilograms of peanut to two (2) institutional buyers worth Php 5,306,829M, says a Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 2 (DA RFO2) chief.
Ma. Rosario Paccarangan, chief of the DA RFO Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) in a recent report, highlighting Dizon Farm based in Taguig City and Jockers/Mabuhay Food Industries based in Pulilan, Bulacan as their institutional buyers.
Paccarangan, also the IREAP Component head, said the BMPC consolidated the peanuts of their members and other groups in Enrile, Cagayan, and Quirino provinces.
“To meet the quality and increasing volume requirement of the Institutional Buyers, the cooperative consolidates the produce of their farmer-members and DA RFO 02 AMAD assisted them to tap other peanut farmer-suppliers,” she said.
Through the strong collaboration between DA AMAD, AMAS, and Local Government Units, the peanut farmers had an opportunity to sell their produce to Institutional Buyers.
According to Paccarangan, this has significantly helped the peanut farmers gain additional income from their farming business. “The business transactions between the peanut farmers and Institutional Buyers generated jobs.”
For his part, Luisito V. Perez, BMPC manager, said they are encouraging more farmers in San Mateo, Jones, and San Agustin in Isabela, during the meeting with local peanut farmers to supply the needed volume of the said institutional buyers.
He said that the intervention of the DA AMAD and PRDP has helped them attain their vision for the said enterprise. (InfoAce Cagayan Valley)
