Undersecretary-designate for Livestock William Medrano of the Department of Agriculture appreciated the DA Regional Field Office No. 02 as he announced that Cagayan Valley will get a pie in the establishment of multiplier farms due to evident enthusiasm it is showcasing in the implementation of national programs, during his visit in Isabela last week.
Usec. Medrano, during his phone patch interview with the DZDA 105.3 fm, said that DA massively implements the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2) Stimulus Package and establishes various multiplier breeder farms for native chicken, free-range chicken, swine, small ruminants (goat and sheep), and cattle feed laboratory fattening project.
“DA envisions to help multiplier farms, breeding stations, and stock farms located in the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and different field offices to have a sustainable source for dispersal,” he added.
He particularly mentioned that they are considering DA-Isabela Experiment Station (IES) in Gamu, Isabela as a recipient of the said program.
“We have a total of 82,000 metric tons of chicken in our cold storage facilities for our consumers and the buying public,” he furthered.
Usec. Medrano assured the viewers and listeners that DA will prioritize backyard raisers especially for their livelihoods with the available budget of P400M and urged them to support the poultry industry, especially in this time of the pandemic.
