Women in agriculture permeate many development initiatives for the sector to grow.

Thousands of women inspire and motivate us from the farmlands, agribusiness, research, and innovators who are the country’s forefront food producers. But how leaders to effect change to society is vital and essential? How women in agriculture pave the way to a brighter and better future?

As the newly designate at the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 02 High-Value Crops and Development Program (DA RFO 2-HVCDP) Focal Person, Carol Albay, an Agriculturist, has been with the agency for almost eleven years.

Her years in the government service proved her leadership abilities in implementing programs and projects of the department.

She started her career in the government in 2009 at the DA Regional Office No. 3 (Central Luzon) as Agriculturist I and then transferred at the DA RFO 2 in 2015 as Agriculturist II.

Albay spearheaded the implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program since 2013, the development of the coffee and cacao industry in the Cagayan Valley Region.

Her pieces of training she attended include home garden, business plan preparation, vegetable congress, Asia Pacific Symposium on Postharvest Research, Education and Extension, good agricultural practices, and among others.

She is also a radical optimist and a visionary for our High-Value Crops farmers that their products are for world-class exports. Albay has also acted as the assistant focal person for HVCDP since 2017.

She replaced Engr. Blesita Tega who is now the Manager of DA Southern Cagayan Research Center (SCRC).
