Vincent Paul Balao, a government employee for 22 years, brings a relentless drive for innovation and passion for the agriculture sector to grow.
He joined government service early as an Agriculturist I at the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 02 (DA RFO 2) and has stayed with the agency ever since.
His 22 years of being a civil servant brought him to becoming the newly designated Regional Focal Person for the Corn Program of DA RFO 2 this July 2020.
Balao was assigned to the DA RFO 2’s experiment stations and research centers while climbing the corporate ladder and now tasked to oversee the regional office’s corn program as Senior Science Research Specialist (SSRS).
“As part of the team, I will create significant value for our corn industry by proactively improving our services here in the DA by implementing and supporting our secretary on his vision,” he said.
“Through my development as a government employee working under the Corn Program, being with our farmers in the field has taught me the corn industry trades and the concerns of our farmers in the region,” Balao added.
“The most important thing I learned is that sharing of technical assistance is crucial and it will make it or break our clients — the farmers,” lamented Balao.
“I can be so friendly and jolly, but when it comes to the plight of our corn farmers, I take it seriously.”
