Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 2 Executive Director Narciso Edillo awarded some 38 hand tractors, five (5) hand seeder, two (2) rice mini combine harvester to a total of 45 agriculture cooperatives and irrigation associations, at the Isabela Experiment Station, Gamu, Isabela, November 14, 2019.
“As the country drives to attain low cost of production on agriculture products, farm mechanization is seen as a proven tool to attain higher yield and better income,” he said.
The agricultural types of machinery and post-harvest facilities funded under the Rice Program fund were awarded and turned over to accredited farmer organizations and cooperatives in Isabela.
Increasing the power of our farmers by providing them the right technology for agriculture means that more tasks can be “completed at the right time and greater areas can be farmed to produce greater quantities of crops while conserving natural resources.”
“Applying new technologies that are environmentally friendly enables farmers to do farming efficiently and lessening the cost of rice production,” Edillo added.
Also, present during the event were Provincial Agriculturist Maritess Frogoso and her municipal and city agriculturists.
She thanked DA in providing a total of 60 M pesos worth of farm types of machinery for rice production which she added that this assistance is good for Isabela as it is the Rice Bowl of Northern Luzon.
