The children of Cagayan Valley today, September 26, 2019, converged to tell a story on how food hunger can end by 2030 by illustrating their visions through posters at the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 02 Organic Training hall building, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
Abigail Mangili, a 5th grader of Bayombong Central School in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya bested other 13 participants in the region as she illustrated on her output the importance of healthy diets available for everyone and how we can improve our diets.
While the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations aimed to eradicate world hunger and obesity, the Departments of Agriculture (DA) and Education (DepEd) in the country partnered with them to conduct poster making contest to raise awareness and breed new young talents.
“My output speaks on so many sides and one of them is about how farmers should be given the right help to support their needs in producing food for us and to the incoming generations to come,” said Mangili.
Her story stood out amongst other contenders highlighting that developments should always be sustainable and will be beneficial on both ends.
Thus, the second placer, from the Tuguegarao East Central School in Tuguegarao City, Maria Alessandra Villacete interpreted that the world challenges us to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 is possible which meant that we should not just produce foods, but also it must be safe and healthy for everyone’s consumption.
Brian Russell Guevarra of San Marcos Elementary School of Cabaraggouis, Quirino got the 3rd spot relayed hunger is everyone’s battle. “The full support of everyone can end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture,” he added.
The winner will represent Cagayan Valley in the national competition in celebration of World Food Day in October.
