The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office No. 02 (DA-RFO 02) through its Rice Program shall conduct a regionwide Information Caravan on Republic Act 11203 otherwise known as “An Act Liberalizing the Importation, Exportation and Trading of Rice, Lifting for the Purpose of Quantitative Import Restriction on Rice, and for Other Purposes.”
To be held in the four provinces of Cagayan Valley, the activity aims to discuss provisions of the law to all provincial and municipal Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs).
According to Regional Executive Director Narciso A, Edillo, there is a need to continuously educate the local government units and other stakeholders to include the farmers regarding the tariffication law.
“This is to avoid public’s misunderstanding of the law that drew controversy after the approval of the President,” he said.
“We are also instructed by Secretary Emmanuel F. Pinol to conduct massive information dissemination on this act, hence, this caravan.”
The schedule of the information caravan are as follows:
May 28, 2019 – DA-Nueva Vizcaya Experiment Station (NVES), Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya;
May 29, 2019 – DA-Quirino Experiment Station (QES), Aglipay, Quirino;
May 30, 2019 – DA – Southern Cagayan Research Center (SCRC), Iguig, Cagayan; and
May 31, 2019 – DA-Cagayan Valley Research Center (CVRC), Ilagan City, Isabela.
