Days after Typhoon “Ompong”, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office No. 02 (DA-RFO 02) yesterday convened the Regional Management Committee (RMC) of Region 02 at Organic Building Training Hall, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
“This meeting aims to foster a closer and stronger working relationship of the agencies that will benefit not only our respective entities but the whole Cagayan Valley,” said Regional Executive Director and RMC Chair Narciso A. Edillo.
“There is a need to get our acts together especially now that we are still recovering from the effects of Super Typhoon Ompong. Magtulungan po sana tayo upang mas mapabilis ang pagbibigay ng tulong sa ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda at makabangon ng mabilis ang ating mga naapektuhang kababayan.”
Edillo underscored the importance of resources complementation and coordination of plans to avoid overlapping of interventions.
He also requested that the DA, as the chair, should be regularly furnished with updates and status of program being implemented regionwide.
“As a region, these reports are critical for us in planning our future activities.”
Among the topics discussed are the draft Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Plan (RAFMP) and DA’s Credit Programs by DA, Status of National Irrigation Systems by National Irrigation Administration, Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Network Plan by Agricultural Training Institute, Weather Update by DOST-PAGASA, Status of Releases of Crop Insurance by Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, Special Lending Programs for Small Farmers and Fisherfolks and Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries by Land Bank of the Philippines and DA’s Typhoon Ompong Damages and Rehabilitation Plan.
