DIFFUN, Quirino — The Participatory Guarantee System – Diffun Aglipay Cabarroguis Saguday Association (PGS-DACS) has officially secured its Organic Certification under the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS), valid from July 24, 2026, to July 23, 2029.
The accreditation, granted by the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS), recognizes five core farmer-members of the association who successfully met national organic standards.
In an official communication addressed to DA-Regional Field Office 02, Regional Executive Director Rose Mary G. Aquino, Ph.D., DA-BAFS commended the association’s commitment to sustainable farming, noting that the accomplishment reflects the collaborative dedication of local agricultural teams and regional inspectoral bodies.
Special acknowledgement was given to the Regional Organic Agriculture Team led by George A. Caday and the Regulatory Division headed by Remedios A. Dela Rosa for providing technical assistance and facilitating a seamless certification process.
With ATI, the DA RFO2 Regulatory Division hand in hand with DA RFO 2 Organic Agriculture Program have guided the group to such achievement. The three-year certification marks a significant milestone for local agricultural producers across the municipalities of Diffun, Aglipay, Cabarroguis, and Saguday.
“The RAFC Chair, Mr. Dante Tobias, is walking the talk as he is one of the core members of the PGS. He has, for a long time an advocacy of organic agriculture. In both capacities, he is a role model,” Mr. George Caday, OA Regional Focal Person said.
By establishing certified organic operations, PGS-DACS strengthens consumer trust, enhances food safety, and boosts the economic prospects of organic farmers within the province of Quirino and the broader Cagayan Valley region.
