The Department of Agriculture – Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA SAAD) Cagayan Valley turned over ₱10.2 million worth of multi-year agricultural inputs, farm machinery, livestock facilities, and food processing equipment to four Farmers Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) in Cagayan. These interventions, implemented from 2023 to 2026 with a total value of ₱10,207,383.63, aim to boost farm productivity, encourage agro-processing enterprises, and improve the economic status of member-farmers in the region.
For the record, the Cabaleng San Isidro Farmers Association (CASIFA) received the largest cumulative allocation, with total assets amounting to ₱5,424,400.00. The interventions include ₱3,840,000.00 in 2023 for a mushroom facility, a water system, farm inputs, and training; ₱526,700.00 in 2024 for a greenhouse facility and farm machinery; ₱201,200.00 in 2025 for dehydrators, worktables, and packaging tools; and an additional ₱96,500.00 in processing materials turned over for 2026. Moreover, the Gunglo Dagiti Mannalon ti Portugal (GUMAPO) received ₱3,085,600.00 in total interventions. This comprises ₱2,229,100.00 in 2024 for a swine house facility, livestock, feeds, and five greenhouse units with a water system; ₱760,000.00 in 2025 for commercial kitchen and meat processing equipment; and ₱96,500.00 in 2026 for processing materials and tools.
Meanwhile, Grupo Dana Yapayao nga Agkagkago (GDYA) was awarded a total of ₱887,383.63 across two years. They received ₱790,883.63 worth of farm tools, a two-wheel tractor with a trailer, a mini tiller, and purple yam (ube) planting materials in 2025, alongside ₱96,500.00 worth of garden tools and materials provided for 2026. Furthermore, the Natalged A Sicul Integrated Growers Association (NASIGA) received ₱810,000.00 in integrated agricultural production support for its 2026 allocation. For the year 2026, the program turned over a total of ₱1,099,500.00 in new interventions across all four associations to sustain their ongoing production and processing activities.
The DA-SAAD Program emphasized that integrating agricultural production inputs with post-harvest processing capacity empowers FCAs to transition into productive value-adding community agri-enterprises.
