AGLIPAY, Quirino — The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 2 has turned over a ₱2.1 million Chicken Multiplier package, Livestock and Poultry Module under the Livestock Economic Enterprise Development project to the Victoria Ifugao Farmers Association here on June 10, 2026, to boost poultry production and farmer income in the province.

The project package includes a chicken housing facility, ranging area, biologics, incubator, 600 dual (meat and eggs) Rhode Island red chickens (stocks), feeds, and technical training.

Under the multiplier model package, the association will raise parent stock and produce chicks for distribution to members and nearby small poultry raisers.

The project will address the province’s supply gap for quality chicks and reduce dependence on out-of-region sources, which often raise costs due to transport and mortality. By producing chicks locally, Victoria Ifugao Farmers Association can stabilize supply, lower input costs, and improve survival rates for backyard and commercial growers.

For countryside farmers, the project provides shared infrastructure and access to genetically improved birds without the high upfront capital. This translates to faster flock turnover, higher egg and meat yields, and more stable livelihoods. The association is also expected to create market linkages that allow members to sell surplus birds and eggs at better prices.

Quirino’s poultry sector has grown in recent years but remains limited by high production costs and inconsistent chick supply. “The Aglipay multiplier project will strengthen the provincial value chain, increase local meat and egg availability, and position Aglipay as a new source of poultry inputs for neighboring towns,” Municipal Agricultutist Dr. Tony Ferrer said.

The Victoria Ifugao Farmers Association will manage operations and reproduction cycles, with DA providing monitoring and veterinary support to ensure project sustainability.
