On December 2, 2025, at the Isabela Experiment Station (IES), the delivery, inspection, and ceremonial turnover of 26 units of Composting Facility for Biodegradable Wastes (CFBW) were conducted. This also included training on the operation and maintenance of the facility and a hands-on composting session for the farmer-beneficiaries. These activities were led by the BSWM Compost Production Implementation Team, Engr. Romelyn G. Bergantiños and Engr. Arlyn Cabaruan.
In support of the initiative of the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), DA RFO II Regional Executive Director Dr. Rose Mary G. Aquino attended the event and delivered an inspiring message. She emphasized the vital role of organic agriculture in strengthening food security and protecting the environment, which serve as foundations for stronger, more progressive, and sustainable communities. Also present to express their support were Dr. Jacqueline Z. Gumiran, Station Manager of IES, and Engr. Dona Estay of DA RFO II.
This is also in support of the “Biodegradable Wastes ay Yaman, Asenso Natin: Organiko at Rehenaratibong Agrikultura Isabuhay (BIO-ANI)” framework under the Organic Agriculture Program, which provides a comprehensive, systems-based solution to the region’s soil nutrition, waste management, and organic fertilizer supply challenges. It integrates resource recovery, enterprise development, capacity building, responsible production, and market consolidation into a unified approach.
Ultimately, BIO-ANI pioneers a region-wide regenerative agriculture movement, positioning Cagayan Valley as the premier producer of organic fertilizer supporting regenerative agriculture and a balanced fertilization strategy in the region.
The farmers expressed deep gratitude for the CFBW units they received, which will help increase their yields and promote more eco-friendly farming practices.
