The rhythm of music and the prayers of the locals in the highlands shouting for joy and victory came when the Owag shi Kayapa 2019 kick-started on January 28, 2019, at Municipal Hall Grounds, Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya.

“We owe it to our nature and the agricultural setting of this land where your major source of highland vegetables which has been considered as your main source of income,” said Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 02 (DA-RFO 02) Officer-in-charge (OIC) Regional Technical Director for Operations and Extension Dr. Roberto C. Busania.

“Kayapa is very unique and cool,” Busania stressed, adding that this is also a venue to enhance what our people here had started.
“I learned that Owag Shi means Shout for Victory, I saw and experienced it first-hand as we gathered here as one and celebrate a very momentum event of this town,” he added.

Busania represented Regional Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo who was in an equally important activity.

Kayapa Municipal Mayor Atty. Paul D. Ligmayo, lamented the importance of the festival with a theme “Advancing Tourism within a Preserved Culture”.

“The celebration signifies our continuing cooperation, endless endeavor, and dedication in pursuing holistic development by sustaining our environment, promoting tourism, preserving our culture and achieving economic, social and spiritual progress,” Ligmayo said.

It was here where the locals and visitors flock to thank another year of great harvest.

The festival goers joyfully celebrated Owag shi Kayapa 2019 opening the program with a sweet-sounding shout “Oooooway, oway, hoooo, hooo.”
